TADO X - support cannot set water temperature
Hello everyone, I installed my first Tado X kit with thermostat yesterday, set in Opentherm mode. As I have read in the forum, many complain about the fact that it is not possible to manually set the water heating and domestic hot water temperatures in the tado APP. Obviously my boiler doesn't allow me to set these temperatures if Opentherm is enabled (the thermostat has to do it), and this is what Tado support replied to me:
Hello,
unfortunately with tado° X we do not have the possibility to set the flow temperature.
In addition, with tado° X it is not possible to control the domestic hot water.
it is possible to make both changes directly from the boiler.
Best regards,
I'm starting to strongly doubt the quality of the product, also because I'm not a beta tester but I'm an end user.

Hello @EmmettBrown 🙂
Thanks for posting.
I see that you also opened a ticket with our support team. I will re-iterate what was shared there so other members of the community can stay in the loop:
At the moment, tado° cannot guarantee that the domestic hot water and maximum flow temperature setting functions will be implemented with tado° X, but we can confirm that they are both being evaluated in hopes of implementation for next winter (2024/2025).0 -
We have now added the Opentherm Flow Temperature setting in the app for tado X.

Great news! But i can’t find the indicated menu in the last version of the app, is it still in beta?0

No, it's live as far as I know. But looking at your account, it seems like your thermostat X does not have an Opentherm connection anymore since August 16th. Opentherm (and, currently, tado X) is required for this feature.

thanks now it works! the sanitary water temperature is missing and then the product would be excellent.0

The domestic hot water temperature cannot be adjusted when connecting the thermostat in OpenTherm mode. This prevents me from setting the water temperature, which remains at 60 degrees, this is dangerous for the family. Please give me an answer if this critical issue is being managed in the r&d department.
I remember that when Opentherm is active, no parameters can be set in the boiler.0 -
Same here... there's no 'Flow Temperature Optimization' option in the app, as was shown above.0

Same here, my boiler hot water (not heating water, I am speaking about the water that comes out from the tap to be clear) temperature has always been set at 45 degrees. Once I connected Tado X thermostat with OpenTherm that temperature got set at 60 degrees and cannot be changed from the boiler. Please provide an option to disallow tado X from being able to change the boiler hot water temperature as 60 degrees is dangerous more than uncomfortable. Apart from that Tado X seems a great product from my first hours of usage...1

@Rob kindly awaiting an answer for the hot water, we continue to have the water that comes out of the tap at 60 degrees. dangerous! it is necessary that you integrate an adjustment for that setting in the app as well. Thankyou

@EmmettBrown Noted. I know it is on our internal roadmap, so planned to be developed, but I cannot give you any guarantees about if/when it will be implemented. I will use comments like yours to try to convey the importance when we prioritize how we spend our development resources.

@Rob I also share the urgency of @EmmettBrown as I have water coming out of taps at 60 degrees and a small child who is at risk of opening hot water by mistake...thanks for listening to us and prioritizing!0

have you made any changes to the domestic water temperature? Now it seems like it’s limited to 43C or so. Is the issue present with all boilers connected via opentherm or only a small subset? How come the devs haven’t fixed such a critical issue, when it was reported two months ago. Why do you release a half finished product and want the full price for it? Unbelievable0

From the information I gathered speaking with different people in the field this is not completely Tado's fault in the sense that every boiler seems to behave differently when it comes to OpenTherm connections, so it's very difficult to manage from Tado's side. Still, it shouldn't be too difficult to come up with an option sooner or later to change this parameter of the boiler's setting that Tado is clearly modifying, either remotely by support or directly by the user.1

I dunno they could’ve predicted the users will be pissed off. I don’t think it’s the best strategy in the long run. If it’s the case that they indeed can control it remotely, they could at least unblock the feature for the boilers they can handle atm0
