Ideal 2 30 combi boiler not switch off
I got my thermostat fitted by a professional boiler man after attempting to do it myself and shorting the boiler out.
He wired it all up for me and the boiler comes on. But when the burner is meant to turn off it keep kicking back on so the house permanently warms up.
This is manageable by switching between winter and summer mode about defeats the object of having a smart thermostat.
Any helpful ideas please

Can be one of three things: (i) there may be a fault on the Tado thermostat (ii) the algorithm set with Tado is forcing the boiler to cycle - which is dangerous and does lead to boiler breakdowns (iii) the boiler's motherboard has a fault. Suggested steps:
- Look at this link: page 27 (logic-combi-2-installation-and-servicing-guide.pdf) and check that your Tado thermostat is connected to the Opentherm points.
- If all is well there, time to check on whether the thermostat is doing its job.
- Remove its battery for 10 mins. Put it back in. Then force it to pair again with the internet bridge.
- Once it is doing its job again, turn down the temp setting on the app and see if that reduces the burden on the boiler, ie make it less inclined to overheat the house - even though the figure it is set for may be much lower than the figure you measure in the house. If that results in better control note it.
- If this suggests that the thermostat is faulty, and there is a risk that Support is dragging its heels, not really clarifying whether there is a fault, have whoever you purchased the thermostat from swap your potentially faulty thermostat with a new one. Replace it, configure it.
- At the same time as (2), contact Tado support immediately, inform them of the problem and that the system is forcing the boiler to cycle and heat the house up even when there is no call for heat.
- Inform them that it is an Opentherm configuration, give them the model of the boiler.
- Let them know what happened when you turned down the thermostat.
- If they come back claiming that all is well, force this to be escalated.
4. How long do you need to wait for a boiler service? An Ideal engineer should be able to plug into the diagnostic port on the boiler and read what is really happening. If it is being caused by the Tado end you'll have hard evidence. If it is the boiler, they'll be able to find that quickly.
Keep us informed.

This is really helpful thank you. How will I know if it is set up for open therm? The boiler definitely it but I am unsure about the tado. It is wiredncorrectly from the information guide they sent0

Go to settings, select the thermostat, at the bottom you'll see 'installation instructions', follow that and you'll have access to a search field where you select the boiler in Opentherm mode. Set it.
- Wait for 10 mins.
- It should configure again.
Sorry, just assumed that your boiler guy had handled that detail for you. My bad.
