Wireless Receiver(v3) setup issues, boiler not firing. Any suggestions?

Hello, I am having issues with a new wireless receiver(v3) I am setting up, it is wired up but the boiler is not firing/turning on.

I have exhausted all ideas at this stage. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks

Current Issue:

•  Tado is not successfully switching the boiler on, despite following the wiring guide.

•  The boiler does not respond to heating commands via Tado.

Please find below the summary of the issue and what I have attempted:

System Setup:

•  Boiler: Ideal Logic+ System S24

•  Zoning: System has no heating zones, has a hot water cylinder with no mechanical valves.

•  Previous Controller: Google Nest Heat Link (worked fine)

•  New Controller: Tado Wireless Receiver

Heat Link Wiring (Working Setup)

Cables from Boiler:

•  Brown (Live) → L

•  Blue (Neutral) → N

•  Black (Switched Live) → 3

•  Yellow/Green (Earth) → Earth terminal

Cables from Mains/Junction Box:

•  Brown (Live) → 2 (Common)

•  Blue (Neutral) → N

•  Yellow/Green (Earth) → Earth terminal

Additional Bridging:

•  L & 2 (Common) are bridged with a short wire.

Tado Wiring:

Cables from Boiler:

•  Brown (Live) → L

•  Blue (Neutral) → N

•  Black (Switched Live) → CH NO

•  Yellow/Green (Earth) → Earth terminal

Cables from Mains/Junction Box:

•  Brown (Live) → CH COM

•  Blue (Neutral) → N

•  Yellow/Green (Earth) → Earth terminal

Additional Bridging:

•  L & CH COM are bridged with a short purple wire supplied.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

1. Verified Boiler Wiring:

   - Followed the Tado suggested wiring guide(which differed from previous heat link):

     - COM (Tado) → Live (Boiler L)

2. Manually Bridged COM and NO:

   - When bridging COM and NO directly, the boiler fired up/called for heat successfully

3. Checked Tado Pro App Setup:

   - Ensured Relay (On/Off) R01 mode is selected.

   - Tried resetting the Tado receiver by holding the button for 10 seconds.

4. Wireless Receiver Switch

   - Receiver clicks when you press the heat button and a light comes on, turns off when you click it again

   - Boiler does not fire / call for heat.

Answers

  • Previously working Heat Link:

  • I did some additional testing with a multimeter

    Live = 230v

    COM = 230v

CH NO = 0v (Relay clicks when pressed, lights up but does not fire boiler)

CH NO = 230v when bridged with COM and boiler is firing.

Could this be a faulty relay/switch?

I am out of ideas to try.

@conorIRE Hello. First check is the configuration of the Wireless Receiver. Do you have a Fully pumped, Combi or Gravity heating system? Section 6: https://cdn.brandfolder.io/607DGEMS/as/tqh86npbjjhws5gwkxfncbfh/104172-DIGITAL-WRP01IB01-INSTALLER_MANUAL-TA-UK-00-V2.pdf

Second, with 240V on CH COM. Should also have 240V on CH NC. Call for heating on the App or test button. The CH light comes on, you hear the relay click, should give 240V on CH NO. With no voltage on CH NO, the symptoms sound like a faulty wireless receiver? Best to go back to your supplier and request a replacement or via Tado support.
