Tado Wifi enabled Hot Water Cylinder Temperature Thermostat Display & Controller
As far as I can understand, if you do not have a smart (oil or gas) boiler or a boiler that can separately control and heat only your hot water you are limited to the control and heating of your hot water cylinder by timer schedules only. However a timer schedule cannot detect if you already have enough supply or hot enough water in your cylinder as it cannot determine the water temperature in the cylinder. You can install a zone valve if your boiler supports this, and a hot water cylinder thermostat but it will only tell the boiler during the schedule period whether to turn the heating on or off via the zone valve.
If there were such a device as a Tado wifi enabled hot water cylinder thermostat sensor that would link with the Tado system and app, then the hot water cylinder would be able to call for hot water via the boiler when the temperature of the water dropped below a set value at a set position on the water cylinder. As I do not have a combi boiler my Tado app only shows when hot water is switched on or off. It cannot tell me the water temperature in the tank and cannot control it to a desired set temperature. However if there were such a device where the temperature sensor probe is wirelessly able to communicate as another device on the app, it could give me the hot water cylinder tank temperature so I would know if I want to heat it more or not or have it set to maintain a desired temperature automatically, so as water is used from the tank Tado will call the boiler to retain the water to a pre set temperature.
I think this is a great idea, and on many modern large hot water cylinders there are multiple ports on the side to insert additional heat probes at different heights in the tank. If the probe was a Tado device it could then be added to the devices in the Tado app to give a temperature reading and enable manual or automatic control features.

Why don’t you have one Tado? It’s essential for a smart heating system.

Completely agree. There is a genuine place for thermal sensors with a probe for both hydronic and hot water tank control.
There are opentherm compatible stats on the market. Why not Tado?0
