  • Same issue for me on Community Fibre. Tado customer services told me to contact Community Fibre and I've raised a ticket. Will report back with any progress.
  • Thank you @Jellson!
As other members have pointed out, this is something tado° has no control over.

  • has anyone got a perm fix from community fibre yet ? changed my DNS to 8844 however now other apps dont work on mobile ?

We all should by now have received a tado letter explaining Community Fibre issues - working to resolve soonest.

  • Contacted Community Fibre yesterday and the issue appears to have resolved today. App working fine via WiFi now.

Yes same problem here with community fibre. I also use Unifi network for home so full control and the issue just started.
  • same exact issue here, very frustrating as i can't even get into tado site on my phone to look up issue. works fine from pc but that is funneled through a vpn. no access to the app on my android either, but works great 1) i am away from home, 2) turn the wifi off. i guess i'm about to contact community fibre, ty.

  • In exactly the same boat, London, community fibre etc. I know there’s a workaround but changing DNS but has anyone made headway with Community Fibre on this?
  • Anyone has the same issue has got the problem solved by Com Fib yet?
  • Still broken for me. I will contact CF and let you know what they say
  • same issue here… Community Fibre - Linksys customer. Using the Google DNS fix at the moment.

Logged with CF this morning. Hopefully if enough of us do it they will get on a fix.

DOnt suppose amnybody who has logged with CF has had a response yet?

    Thanks

  • Live on Isle of man...technicolor router and sure iom broadband provider. I had issues on 18th in the evening not being able to connect to anything via my phone app (android) but restarting router fixed it....tonight nothing is working on both my phone and partners (iphone). App refuses to open on WiFi but will on 4g...bridge pairing light is fast blinking and cloud light binking slower....I have no idea how to fix rn and its doing my head right in
  • To fix:

    1. Login to your CF router

    2. Go to 'Connectivity' (cogs logo) on left hand side

    3. Navigate to 'Local Network' tab across the top

    4. Add 8.8.8.8 to Static DNS 1

    5. Click 'OK'

Should be able to connect with any wifi connected devices straight away. If not, restart the device that can't connect, not the router.

  • We are also having this issue. Community Fibre in London. Will report to CF as well. Many thanks for all the responses.
  • Thank Emcee, that fix worked for me. Just got the tapo installed today and was cursing my choice of device until I realised it was actually a community fibre issue! I also raised a ticket with community fibre to see if they get it fixed! Not the first time they block access to the most random innocent sites!
  • Another thing. Set up your mobile phone so that it does not hide its MAC address from the router. Devices which hide their MAC addresses tend to produce a 32bit IP address which does not complete its CRC check correctly - and this forces routers to treat them as potentially hostile, blocking them until their IP address is consistent.

I suggest the following a public DNS resolver operated by Cloudflare

    Preferred DNS server: 1.1.1.1
    Alternate DNS server: 1.0.0.1

  • @rafm5 May as well go for the malware blocking Cloudflare DNS servers.…

    1.1.1.2

    1.0.0.2

At least, that what I use.

  • CF got back to me and suggested a hard reset. Don’t feel like trying it today but we’ll see if it works.

Instructions to Reset Your Modem and Router
    Reset the Modem:
Locate the pinhole reset button on your modem.
Use a paperclip or a similar object to press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
Release the button and allow the modem to reboot.
    Reset the Router:
Find the reset button on the underside of your router.
Press and hold the reset button for 30-40 seconds.
Release the reset button and wait for the router's indicator lights to show a flashing blue light.
Once the light turns solid pink/purple, proceed to the next step.
    Final Reset:
When the light is solid pink/purple, press and release the reset button 5 times in quick succession.
Wait for the router to reconfigure. This process may take a few minutes.
Monitor the router's indicator lights and wait until it shows a solid blue light, indicating a successful connection.
    Check Your Connection:
After the light is solid blue, try connecting your devices to the network and check if the internet is working properly.
If you encounter any issues, please reach out for further assistance
  • Community fibre sent me the same instructions. Tried it twice and it did t work. Then had to spend a time setting up my home wifi again! Surely enough folks ha e raised this with CF? Strangely my wife's iPhone works OK. My laptop and android phone will not.
  • Same issue here with Community Fibre. Thx for the workaround.

If the problem relates to DNS you still should be able to access places via their IP address.
Example: Google IP address is 216.58.201.110 instead of google.com

If 216.58.201.110 works but google.com does not, it is probably the DNS service that is at fault.

  • I have ASUS mesh WiFi network and recently switched to community fibre from virgin now the app can’t connect over WiFi so it’s deffo a community fibre issue which they need to resolve ASAP
  • I have ASUS zenwifi XT8.

I can’t even access tados website over WiFi have to use a vpn or 5g.

    Community fibre is my ISP

I am not affected by this problem, but I've been keeping tabs on it, and from everything I've read it seems the problem is totally related to Community Fibre, rather than any particular brand of router. Thus the topic is very poorly described, as it has nothing to do with Linksys per se and everything to do with Community Fibre.

Resetting the router (any router) to factory defaults for this specific problem seems a waste of time and potentially a significant inconvenience, especially if the router config is heavily customised.

The simplest solution appears to be a change of DNS server, to Google or Cloudflare or some other trusted DNS provider, either within the router config or an individual device used to access Tado.

The other thing that people really should be going is raising a fault with Community Fibre. This problem should have been dealt with long ago.

    All IMHO. 😀
  • Hi, I agree. When I posted I made no mention of Linksys router as I don't use one - I guess the moderator added/amended the topic title and it hasn't been updated since. As for initially raising the issue here, I think that would be most people's first line of enquiry hence all the other users that have ended up here. CF really need to sort this out, but the DNS change is pretty simple and let's you walk away from any agro of chasing - maybe lazy, but life's too short etc
