Tado X with Opentherm and Multizone (6no Zones) and combi boiler
Hello all
I’m an architect and planning to install a new gas combi boiler in my terraced house and would like to use Tado X.
The goal is to have Opentherm control (to benefit from weather and load compensation) via Tado X on all existing 6 heating zones (5 radiator zones, 1 UFH zone). I understand Tado can handle Opentherm and multizone but wasn’t able to find any answer if Opentherm is available on all zones of a multizone?
Proposed set up:
- New Boiler: Viessmann Vitodens 200W or Vaillant Ecotec Plus 840 ErP Combi Boiler (is any of those preferrablewith Tado? The Vaillant one is very new)
- New Zone valves (can anyone recommend Tado compatible ones?) to be installed to control existing 6 heating zones.
- Existing Heating zones: 1no. hot water UFH zone (2 wired thermostats at the moment) at basement level, 5 radiator zones on upper 4 levels (currently there is one wireless thermostat for each zone / floor). Each zone is currently controlled via zone valves in the plantroom at basement level.
- 6 no.(?) Wireless Smart Thermostat X - Starter Kits: I presume I will i need 1 wireless receiver for each zone/zonevalve or can one Tado X receiver handle multiple zonvalves, in which case i would only need 2 Receivers (1 for radiator zones and 1 for UFH)? This would cover zones of 1) ground, 2) 1st, 3) 2nd, 4) 3rd floor, 5) bathrooms and 6)UFH/underfloor heating.
- 2no. Wired Smart Thermostat X (to replace existing hardwired UFH thermostats at basement level)
- 2no. Bridge X (to boost signal on Ground and 2nd floor)
I’ve tried to get in touch with Tado via email support but wasn’t able to have above questions answered.
Is it possible to get in touch with anyone at Tado over the phone to discuss it further?
Is there a list of approved Tado installers in London?
Looking forward to your assistance, with thanks.
Kind regards
Manuel

Vaillant Update: Vaillant Technical confirmed that Vaillant Boilers don't support Opentherm out of the box. They advised a Opentherm module VR33 by Vaillant (!) can be installed, but it invalidates the Vaillant Warranty, since it's a EU product. This obviously rules out Vaillant as a potential choice.
Viessmann Update: Viessmann confirmed the Vitodens 200-W does not support Opentherm but the Viessmann Vitodens 100-W Combination Boiler B1KF (35kW) does. Can anyone confirm Tado X will be compatible with this boiler?
