Urgent New Setup - Pre purchase questions...

Hi, Tado Community, I'm new around here! :)

We currently have two Google n**t which have been appalling ( random switch on's / off, sticking relays and, the final nail being the common dreaded wifi error). So we managed to get a return tonight - yay!

We have an Oil boiler which heats radiators and hot water. We have two separate radiator circuits upstairs and downstairs. It's a relatively big house with around 23 radiators (I think I counted them all lol ). Big HW tank in a loft.

So we have three 2port valves, 2 heating and 1 for the hot water.

We wish to use the new Tado x. So I am thinking:-

Tado X wireless thermostat for upstairs to trigger Valve and then the boiler

Tado X wireless thermostat for downstairs - this one will also handle the water so will trigger the rad Valve and/or HW valve then trigger the boiler

The questions…

1). Can the App handle two Tado X?

2). Can we in time fit the Tado TRV systems and section them into the two different zones / tado x's

3). Can the app handle three Tado X ( we have electric underfloor heating in one room and would use a 3rd party floor temp sensor and contactor to do this as UFH is not directly supported ) - future project..

4). Can you power the tado room thermostat permanently, we have some wiring to them, but would rather have the control units back near the boiler.

I hope this makes sense, amazon is taking back the google ne*t;s on Monday so I need to order a replacement solution tomorrow and fit at the weekend. Wiring for me isn't an issue, I rewired it all to a Wago wiring centre so swapping is super easy as it's now neat and labelled.

Thanks 😎

  • Hello @lowbug,

I see my colleague Jovica has already answered your questions. I will share his answers here in case it interests other community members:

tado° X has been designed to not have the limitations that our previous product lines had. The software can handle as many devices as needed. However there are two limitations to the system.

Each thread border router (Bridge X, Wireless Receiver X) can support up to 20 devices. For example, two Bridge X can support 40 devices.

A Smart Thermostat and Wireless Temperature Sensor can not be in the same room.

For the heating zones. Each zone has a controller connected to which the different rooms in the app get assigned to, these rooms include the TRVs.
