Wired to wireless when moving a thermostat?
Hi,
I have a 43 year old house with a hot water tank and a wired thermostat that’s located in a corner of the living room behind a door. The boiler was replaced five years ago by the previous owners but everything else is the original including Honeywell dial controller and a Randall 102 CH/HW controller that’s ticking like a comedy bomb.
The boiler is a Glow Worm Flexicom24hx which is a modulating boiler.
The location of the thermostat is IMO rather silly as it’s blocked in by the door, the house can be red hot 23c+ and that corner is the coldest place in the house 17c because of the door. Leaving us in the position that the heating is either on or off because the thermostat is pointless.
I’m looking at installing a tado and don’t know if I should use a wired or wireless version. If I install a wired version should I look to move the thermostat? If I install the wireless I read somewhere that I loose the modulation function.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Alex

Blimey. I’ve not seen these controls since we moved in 1980. I think you have a update or two to do.
