Fyi you can also set the max temp via the link you sent to scan the bridge, if you select boiler details its under there :)0

yes thats correct ;)

Btw does OpenTherm connection turn the boiler off when the house/zone /room reaches its desired temp?0
-
yes, but it will work differently to relay, the room temps will not go up, down, up, down, OpenThem will try to keep an even temp, so you might fined your boiler is on a lot more, but at really low flow temps, (my goes as low as 25˚c).

Ah ok i wondered as it hadn't switched off yet, i had a feeling it did that to keep the temp. Ok great thanks.0

twist the rad temp dial on your boiler, it will tell you the current flow temp, or you can get it from web page i gave you.

Guys ive been testing this out so it takes a real long time for the temperature to reach the desired temp. If i set it to 18 degrees for example it will take over 1hr to reach this temp. Then when it finally does it still shows 3 bars asif.its requesting full power from the boiler. Ive tried with max flow temp at 60 and 70 and its pretty much the same. After this week of testing im actually dreading my energy bill. I feel like it will be more expensive than normal due to having the boiler working at full power for so long. Is there anything i can do to troubleshoot this ? Support take days to reply and they no longer have a phone line.0

Just because you have a MAX follow temp or 60 or 70, does not mean the boiler is actually at that temp, ie my MAX flow temp is 80c but 90% of the time it is only at 30-36c
turn the radiator dial on the boiler to see what the current flow temp is, you also want to avoid large increases in room temps, 3c max between setback and target temps, imo
ie i use 17˚c setback over night, I then boost this 18.5˚in the mornings, then boost again to 19.5˚c in the evenings (I have my elderly mother staying with me). then return to 17˚c at 22:00 till 7:00am.
I used 53kWh yesterday.0 -

Thanks, so yeah, I understand that its not always on the max temp, so that makes sense and your right ive been checking the flow temp and its lower than the max usually. Only thing is im sure that before i installed tado it didnt take as long to reach the desired temp. I dont know is this is expected with tado ? Or is it because im doing something wrong like the setback temp? Generally i dont need heating and only use it for other in the house. So a typical day in winter weather would be turn the heating on upon waking and leave it on throughout the day turning off latest around 9 but usually before around 7. I never have it on overnight as i cant sleep. Would that be why it takes a long time to reach temp in morning ? But preciously with my old thermostat im pretty sure it was quicker to reach the temp. If thats how tado is supposed to work then thats great. I am jusgt new to this and unsure if its expected behavior.0

you'll need to give the Wired(less) Temperature Sensor time to learning your heating needs, but generally OpenTherm is main used for "Low and Slow" type heating (constantly on), besides it is way cheaper to have a setback temp than to try to heat home by 6c+ delta, ie last night I used 11kWh hours to keep at 17˚c from 22:00 to 07:00, then another 18kWh to bump temp to 18.5˚c, that only a 1.5˚c delta, can you imagine if i was trying to reach a 8˚c delta (my leaky lounge, could get down to as low as 10˚c when outside is below 0), it would use way more than 29kWh. Yesterday I used 61kWh for 24hours, and that includes gas for showers and cooking (outside temp got down to -2˚c, high of 2˚c).
Every home is different there is no right way to heat your home, you'll just have to take daily readings, and have a play with schedule and temps.
