Heating constantly calling for heat
Hi, just installed a V3+ kit and second thermostat for the upstairs replacing a Danfoss 9000 downstairs and 5000 upstairs plus the TADO downstairs thermostat/temp controller replaced a little matchbox sized Danfoss temp reading device, the two wires from this I just put in the block connectors provided by TADO.
Upstairs works great but down stairs is constantly calling for heat for the rads (I've not installed individual TADO TRV's) even when in the app the heating is switched off, the only thing I can do to make the radiators go cold is to turn the hot water off in the app, which is not ideal.
I've checked all the wiring and it as per set out in the TADO instructions.
Can't believe that TADO has no customer service on at a weekend which is the prime time for us DIYers
Any advice guys?

Is the 'block' provided by Tado a 2 way Wago - clear plastic with a couple of orange levers? If it is then putting the 2 wires in there would join them together and have the same effect as the old temp sensor calling for heat. If this is the case hopefully Tado provided 2 blocks and you should put one on each wire.
Ignore me if the 'block' is an old style 'chocblock' with a pair of screw terminals.1 -
@kissarmy that makes total sense and that's exactly what I did so yes it will cause the heating to call for heat constantly... Soon as I fix it I'll report back!0
-
@kissarmy OK, I've done what you suggested but still the downstairs heating come on when I switch the hot water to on, the downstairs heating is switched to OFF by the way.
So still the same issue!0 -
What Tado devices do you have? If you want hot water control you need a wireless receiver, not a wired thermostat.1
-
@johnnyp78 I have the V3+ kit plus the extra wired smart thermostat0
-
There are two versions of the v3 kit, one with a wireless receiver and one with a wired thermostat. Which one do you have?1
-
@johnnyp78 Starter V3+ Wireless Smart Thermostat with Hot Water Control plus I got the Wired Smart Thermostat to replace the Danfoss 5000 which controlled the upstairs heating0

Guys, after reading online I downloaded the TADO pro installer app and according to that it states .. This boiler cannot be connected to tado° digitally. Therefore, data can’t be read from the boiler.
My boiler is a Potterton promax sl series
Think I need a professional to look at this, how do I find a TADO installer?0 -
If you have a uk wireless receiver it won’t be connected digitally as it has no digital connections. It sounds to me like you’ve configured your system for gravity fed. Do you know of it’s s or y plan? There are instructions on how to change the Tado configuration here.

Hi, I literally just followed the instructions on the TADO app after putting in that I had a Danfoss 90000
-
That link takes me to a 'register internet bridge ' page and when I scan the QR code it tells me the This boiler cannot be connected.....0

Look at section 6 mate1

Ok, for further clarity I have a Megaflow invented cylinder in my downstairs utility room0

*unvented .... Predictive text!!!0

On test it comes up green for S and Y plan0
-
The orange LED should be coming on when you press test. Do you mean you’ve configured it for s and y plan? In that case what happens when you press the test button to turn off the heating (look at section 7)?0

OK now I've got the downstairs both heating and hot water working great however, when I put the upstairs heating on it also heats the downstairs rads, when I put the downstairs heating on it doesn't heat the upstairs rads!!?!?0

I think you need to post some pics if your wiring (you can if you use the forum on a desktop) because I’m baffled.
@GrilledCheese2 any thoughts?1 -
One explanation is the upstairs thermostat is using the wireless receiver as the zone controller. In the settings the upstairs thermostat should be using itself as the zone controller. And the downstairs temperature sensor should be using the wireless receiver as the zone controller.

How do you set zone controllers?0

Look in rooms under settings. There’s an option at the bottom once you click on a room.0
