Ability to rename device
When batteries are running low I get an email informing me that a particular device in a specific room has an issue. In some rooms I have 4 radiators. I then have to go round ‘blinking’ the stat multiple and watching all the stats in the room to find which one it is.
it would be great to be able to rename or give a nickname to a device such as ‘rad by front door’ or ‘rad under big window’ to allow me to identify the exact rad without having to ‘blink’ it.
an alternative would be to extend the blink time to allow me to inspect all rads in a room in one go.
or an audible clue, maybe cycle the rad on and off a few times.

Same issue here, have to go round the house to check which one is offline or needs battery replacement, little bit frustrating

Have the same issue. Would be great to have it prioritized4

I have the same issue and would like a solution1

Why not (at least in the interim) make a list of your devices by serial number and their location then, that one-off huge amount of effort will save you having to 'go round the houses'!

Just had to find that one thermostat again out of all the VA9377488378378497389373837’s it’s quite annoying I gotta say. I can’t imagine it being hard to give the option to rename it through a software update. I’m quite happy with the Tado hardware, but this is making me look around at other brands.1

Any update from Tado on adding this capability ? For a smart system the lack of it is not very smart.0

Would love that feature, for example to find out which device has gone offline.
For Tado° X devices, there isn't even a way to identify the device through the app!
I can do it from Home Assistant, provided that the device is online, of course. I can even rename the device there, but the battery percentage/state is not exposed through Matter, so I can't make HA send me notifications when the battery is low of a certain device.1 -
Yes it would be nice to name our radiators, but changing brand because of this is a bit extreme - every system has its niggles! A small label with the last three digits of the serial number somewhere discreet near the radiator valve, job done!

I've been wanting that for years. This kind of enhancement is so simple and useful that should have been implemented a long time ago. +100

Just upgraded to Tado X. I was really pleased to see that when I added a new rad stat it gave me the opportunity to change the name from the generic.
Was really surprised then when I saw the list of devices in the setting tab this nickname was not showing. Seems someone thought about this but it wasn’t followed through.
Shame,

Although I love the easiness and the well thought out way of how everything can be installed, it is completely ridiculous that one cannot name the various devices (rads). I have 3 radiators in my living room and cannot identify these by a logical name. In 2024/25 that does not make sense for a smart heating system.
I would expect this to work like the Hue Lighting system, where one creates rooms and can name and assign every individual light/device to a room.2 -
@Roger_vanden_Haak totally agree. Also it would be nice to be able to send a signal from the Thermostat in the app to the physical Thermostat, to be it blink or bip or something to identify it.
