Going from a 10 wire Drayton LP822 to Tado X

Hi,

I currently have a Drayton LP822.

The boiler has a hot water tank.

I have looked at wiring guides online and everything seems straightforward, however, once i removed the Drayton LP822 I can see 10 wires (not including an additional 3 earth) and I can't make sense of how to wire this correctly.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

@shortbread When you start the inslall, Tado will provide wiring instructions.

For a competent DIYer, the Drayton LB822 wiring should be straightforward swap to a Tado wireless receiver in the wireless starter kit.

However, I can see in the photo that the original installer has used the LB822 as a wiring centre. A rats-nest of old and new colours😱, Professionally (electrical engineer, not sparkie) I'd replace the LB 822 with a labelled wiring centre and connect the Tado receiver into the new wiring centre.

If in any doubt, best to engage a suitably qualified professional to do the install.

Based on the Drayton document below, wiring the LB822 to Tado wireless receiver:

N (blue x2, black x1) to N. L (red x2, brown x1) to L. 1 (yellow x1) to HW NC. 2 (no wires). 3 (red x1) to HW NO. 4 (red x1) to CH NO. Add Tado links x2 from L to CH COM to HW COM. Earth (G/Y x3) to Park1. Leave the chocolate block (Yellow x2) as is.

I’d suggest you get in someone competent to do the job. I can’t recommend you play with mains voltage if you don’t understand the wiring.
