Tado x reciever bridge issues

Hi there, I have the tado x starter kit with wireless reciver.
It has been working fine until I decided to upgrade router.
Split the 2.4 and 5ghz, tried iot only network.
After hours of failing to configure, I swapped back to the previous router, same issues, reset, split as above, same issues.
It connects, but I can't get past configuring.
I just get "failed to configure your wireless reciever"
My phone is on 2.4 ghz, I even disabled the 5ghz, and played with different channels, still nothing.
I read o a post to remove all characters from the WiFi pass that aren't letters and numbers, still nothing.
I am currently trying without heating, as without the bridge I can't connect the trv's.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
I tried support, but it's been over night and they haven't got back to me yet.....

Thanks for the great support everyone.

I have finally gotten it to work.

After google app cache clear, resetting phones network settings, factory reset on internet router, reset on receiver and getting new ipv6 from supplier (released and renewed) I am back up and running.

I sldo not believe I had a ipv6 available at the time, and something to do with the phones network settings/Google play cache preventing available WiFi networks showing when connecting.
    Though I'm no expert lol.

    Thanks again!

  • I have factory reset and set up multiple times.
    Connected with wps.
When connecting manually with WiFi, no selections come up as available networks, just fails to find anything...

Suggest you immediately contact support and get them engaged. Tell them you have no heat. This will escalate matters. Do it now.

Whilst here, a few things need to be clarified:

The word router- can mean many things here:

    • In the X series, the notion of a Thread router is used. Did you change a Thread router? Was it an Tado X supplied Thread router?
    • WWAN connections usually involve a modem/router combination. Did you the WWAN router, and when doing so, created a VLAN for the IoTs, to keep them seperate from protected devices.
    • Are you using Homekit, Alex, or another Thread or Matter router in the house to handle the relationship between your apps and the devices?

The mobile phone app doesn't talk to the Tado wireless receiver directly, it talks to the Tado server, which tells you what your Tado bridge is reporting. Presume it was the app that gave you that error message. It could be that the routing table at the Tado back end cannot reconcile with the actual ids on site again. Suggestions to overcome that:

    • Turn off the wireless receiver for 10 mins. Remove all power to it completly.
    • Power up and try to pair it again with the internet bridge. If it works, the app should notice it and all should be well.
    • If not, dewire the wireless receiver, move it close to the the X bridge. Power it up, and force it to pair again in close proximity. When paird, they both record each others addresses in their primary store, the Tado backend can then reset its routing path from the X bridge to the X wireless receiver.
    • If they manage to pair, one may then move the X wireless receiver back to its proper location, wire it up and power up. When powered back up, the backend will remember and complete the link again. All should be working again.

EDIT: Just found an article by @Treskelion1959: Install guide for new owners of Tado X eco-system (Unofficial, Version 5) — tado° Community - you may find it useful.

If this doesnt work, the support team should set you right. Let us know how things go.

  • thanks for the reply.

I have been trying to contact support, but the chat icon only comes up on one browser, then when go to select category, the chat breaks, and makes a noise whenever i click anything…

and i cant seem to get through on the app (no chat option in messages)

    Is there another communication option?

Thankfully i found the boost heating option on the receiver, which will get me through the cold for now.

By router, I meant your standard internet router, from a linksys to a tp link archer, however neither seem to work now.

And connecting the bridge or the tado x wireless receiver (the one wired into the boiler) are still at the failing to configure (WPS) and manually the wifi networks do not show (have tried two different phones)

The receiver and/or bridge are the thread router right?

I have been trying to connect the devices to a dedicated 2.4 IOT, and the general 2.4ghz on my router, and still get the same fault.

I did previously have home assistant with some matter devices connected (mostly lights) on a pi, but have none of them connected to the new router, it literally my laptop, phone, and the tado reciever (i can see it on the device list after the wps connection, but it is still not configured)

Thanks for the article, i shall take a look now.

Try resetting your original router to factory defaults, clearing all VLANs, killing all wireless links and only connect via the laptop on ethernet cables. Use your ISPs settings to get out and prove it will work.

Shut down all the home assist devices. Take them offline.

    • Then ensure that DHCP is functional for IPV4 and IPV66 and DNS works fully. Prove it.
    • Then open up 5ghz. give it a tough password and prove your phone will talk to it.
    • Look in its tables to see whats logged in.
    • Update it to the lastest firmware.
    • Prove that speedtest works repeatedly from every device possible.
    • Then create VLANs first for everything which is protected (your laptops, desktops, TV, pads, etc.- leaving everything else without a VLAN.
    • Now plug in the X bridge.
      • Pair everything again.

This should get the internet connections working. Test everything which doesnt add a home assist layer. Does it work? If not,

    • you may need to try another internet router
    • check with your ISP and ask them to run backend tests to your router.

    Let us know.

@Emcee would you try and get Support to study @Crankz 's environment? Is there a possibility that the X bridge also works at half duplex, like the V3 version?
