Living Room Overheating Due to Tado Radiator Knobs in Bedrooms

Hello,

I recently installed a Tado wired thermostat in the living room and four radiator knobs in each of the bedrooms to control the temperature independently. However, I’ve noticed an issue: whenever a radiator knob signals the boiler to heat a bedroom, the living room also starts heating—even when its temperature is already higher than the thermostat setting.

This happens consistently and leads to excessively high temperatures in the living room.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? How can I resolve it?

If there's not already a TRV in the living room (which would probably conflict with the wired thermostat), most likely you need a Tado TRV on the living room radiator and the configure that room so the thermostat is the controlling device.

If there is already a TRV, the other option is that the valve is sticking and the TRV can't stop the flow completely.

  • I have floor heating in my living room. Are you suggesting adding an extra TRV for the floor heating? When the knobs were installed, I asked the installer about this, and they mentioned it wasn't necessary.
