Android app showing outstanding notification on home screen icon

Just installed the Tado app on a new Android phone - worked fine on the old one.
It's all set up and working - but on the phone's home screen, there's a number 1 flagged against the app which suggests there's an outstanding action or notification that needs resolving.
We've been through every screen in the app and can't find anything to resolve - the "1" notification is still there.
How do we get rid of it?
