TADO radiator thermostat not turning off
I have 3 Tado radiator thermostats in one room. For about a month they all worked fine in sync.
Then, one of them refused to turn off, the other 2 turn off when told to no problem, but the one radiator stays on.
I tried swapping them over but the same radiator continues to work incorrectly so, in other words, the Tado that wasn’t working on one radiator works fine when moved to another radiator and vice versa.
I have put the original manual TRV back on the problematic radiator and I can manually turn that radiator off and on, no problem.
So in other words, for some reason, the Tado TRV seems not to be calibrating properly with the radiator and is permanently in the ‘on’ position- although have re-tried the calibrating process a few time and it is quick and seems to be fine…. any ideas any one?

Hi Matt,
Sometimes the pin on the TRV might stick a little (can happen depending on age or how hard the water in the heating circuit is), so moving it in and out by pressing on it with a hard object (you most likely won't be able to push it with your thumb alone) to make sure it moves smoothly.
Here's a good video on how to service the pin, starts at just after the 2 minute mark. Best to use silicone lubricant though, WD40 may damage the plastic on the Smart Radiator Thermostat.
If that doesn't help, please contact support for more help.
Best regards,
Frank

hi Frank, thanks very much for getting back. So, I actually emailed support, they also got back quickly. They re-calibrated my thermostat remotely and it now works perfectly. Don't understand how that works - very clever!
Thanks for great service

I have this issue also at the moment with two specific smart valves. Here is the situation:
All radiators are fitted with tado smart valves. The boiler is switched on by a wired thermostat. The entire heating system is new, including all radiators.
The majority of the system works very well, with the valves turning on and off with the required heat.
The system shows as working fine with no errors, and all smart valves reporting back nicely to the tado bridge. Batteries are all new and correctly installed. The valves have all mounted the brackets and show no errors.
However, two specific valve are not turning their radiators off or down, and these are going full blast when the boiler is on.
I have tried turning them right down, but the radiators remain open on full. I tried replacing the valves with dumb manual valves, and found that they switch off just fine, closing off the radiators nicely. It appears to me that the tado smart valves are not closing down the pins that close off the water to the radiator.
Having read this thread, I contacted support via the web chat, but am not getting much response, just sporadic messages over the last few days asking me about batteries, which are fine, and otherwise nothing.
Does anybody else have experience with similar issues?

@Andrew_M Hello Andrew. What make/model are the offending TRV valves? Some valves will not behave with Tado TRVs. E.g, we have a right-angle BG-branded Pegler valve (wide-pin) that will not work with Tado. Although the straight BG-branded Pegler valve (wide-pin) does behave. Otherwise, we have many Drayton Honeywell and ecocal valves (old and newer) that work just fine with Tado TRVs.

Hi!
Thanks for your reply.
The TRVs are new tado smart radiator thermostats. The radiator valves themselves, I don’t know the brand but they have a vertical pin and the TRV fits it perfectly. I think they are just not strong enough to push the in down, even though I can do it with my hand relatively easily.0 -
