Tado without Matter bridge

I replaced my old tado v3s with a full Tado X setup... Radiator valea, boiler open therm control back in January of this year.

I did not have any matter device, neither did I purchase the Tado Bridge X - the setup worked fine - all the TRVs, a wireless temperature sensor and the wired device connected to the boiler all worked perfectly until last week, when I got a google hub max and said, lets try this matter thing.

It didnt work, turns out, I have changed mobile phones since when installed the tado x system, and apparently tado stores information needed for matter integration in the phone - solution oroposed was install the devices 1 by one again.

So, I said, OK, I will start with the wireless temp sensor - didnt work, it kept failing (possibly cos I have 2 separaelte wifi networks at home, o e kow bandwidth wifi for IoT like switches, tado etx, and another for home use, ipads etx, including the google hub.

Since everything was working fine before, i said, i can live without matter.

But... It seems not to be.

I have reset the temperature sensor multiple times, removed from the app to add again, but, it appears every time the app tries to add, it goes straight the matter path.... I reset the sensor, see FR come on the screen, goto add device in tado app, scan the qr code.. it sez Device Found..

I click register device...i put the battery back in... The signal symbol with the X starts blinking...i continue, ..msg "Connecting to Device...followed by..Generating Matter credentials..and then goes to.."Checking Network Connectivity to My&IoT_Wifi"..

And then fails after a few minutes...with a msg saying 'Cant reach Device"..make sure the phone is connected to the internet!!!

Each time it fails, a disconnected sensor appears in my device to an new room..im on room 18 now!!!

Later addition: I then found all the TRVs also disconnected, so, i removed from app, reset by oulling battery out, pressing the disply... Then add again, same issue - found device... Connecting..generatung matter credentials...and then...checking connectivity to my_iot_wifi... And then fails...

It is as if either tado has blackisted my account, OR my ISP isnt giving the tado app route to tados servers...

The ohone is connected to the My_IOT_Wifi, and is connected to the net (which is how it pulls up yhe device details after I scan the QR code).

Not sure what/where Im going wrong!!.

In configuring, i have also reset the boiler link and reconfigured it again, so, at least that part is working - I can set the Hot Water temperature on the boiler from my phone...yet again confirming the phone is connected to the net

  • Ok... So.... Finally fixed.... Here is the issue....

I have a main sky router sitting at 192.168.0.1

I have hard wired another routers WAN to the sky router... Giving it a 192.168.2.1 address and ip pool of 192.168.2.x....
This is the router that has the 11_Home_Automation wifi ID...and connects not just tado, but all my home automation devices...
This setup has been working fine for 3 years..from 2020 to jan of this year i had tado v3, and in jan, switched to tado x, and everything worked fine...untill 2 days ago. All the devices stopped connecting after I attempted matter integration..so, have up in that to go back to as things were. But, al devices went offline, except trlhe boiler link!!

After following all the steps given by Tado support agent, nothing changed.

Finaly..., what I did was, i powered off the home automation router, and gave my sky router the home automation wifi ID with he same key as have always used and is in place for all the wifi switches etc in the house.

That seems to have allowed both the wireless sensor and one thermostat to connect and be added to the tado app.

But, prior to this, the wireless receiver configured fine under the 2 router topology

After that, I out the IoT router bak on, reverted my main homemrouter SSID to the usual, such that automtion device will connect to the 2nd IoT router.

And then, with the 2 router setup (as ws originally in place, and not letting any device get connected)..., the 2 devices that finally connected continued working!!! working fine.

Great, I then tried ading the rest of the TRVs And they also managed to connect to the system, under exactly the same setup it wasnt working for the last 2 days and 30 to 40 attempts to hard reset and connect.

So, not sure what has changed..but, it seems to be working now
