Manual Heating Fails Despite Working Smart Schedule – Seeking Urgent Advice
Hi everyone,
I’ve been grappling with a puzzling Tado issue for more than two weeks, and I’m hoping someone here can help. My children are getting cold whenever the heating isn’t running on the smart schedule, and so far Tado support hasn’t been able to provide a clear fix. I’m prepared to hire a professional if that’s what it takes to resolve this quickly.
Here’s the situation:
Smart schedule works: The boiler reliably activates according to the scheduled times, so the boiler itself is fine and part of the Tado system is functioning correctly.
Manual heating fails: When I try a manual temperature boost (for example, setting 19°C for a short period), I can hear the TRV adjust, but the boiler stays off and the radiator never warms up.
No obvious internet issues: The TRVs respond immediately to any temperature change made via the Tado app, and the wireless receiver remains connected. It only seems to ignore manual heat commands.
If anyone has dealt with a similar scenario—where the smart schedule triggers heating but manual requests don’t—please share your experiences or any advice you might have. I’d greatly appreciate any help you can offer!

Hey,
Few questions on the back of your message:
- What Tado system do you have V3+ / X?
- The rooms in question: do you have smart TRVs only or do you have wireless temperature sensors too?
- What's the set up? Combi boiler, single storey, how many rooms are fitted out with Tado?
- Assume the boiler does not have its own separate timer that may need to be switch to ON permanently?
- Have you checked if the zone controller is assigned to rooms that do not heat up when set to manual?0 -
@sethdickens Hello. Sorry to hear you are having problems with manual settings. There are lots of possibilities.
- When you use a 'manual' setting: Is the CH light ON or OFF on the wireless receiver? The 'cloud' can take up to minute or so to action the setting.
- In the App settings, are the Rooms assigned to a Zone controller or Independent? (see picture). Also check the 'manual' default setting (there are three choices, ours is 'until ended by user'. ).
- Can you post a screen shot of the Room graph when you set a 'manual' temperature (see second picture for an example, with a manual 'hand' and grey area 'heating' in the middle of the day).
- Pictures are easiest posted from a web browser.
For users to provide suggestions, details of you heating system will help.
- What Tado devices are you using?
- What make/model is your boiler? Is it a combi? Or a system boiler with Y-plan or S-Plan zone valves?
