Installation

hi, I bought a wired Tado off ebay. I’m not very practical so asked my handyman if he could install it, he doesn’t touch electrical so recommended an electrician. The electrician won’t touch it so I went on Check a trade. No joy. Where do people find installers?

I’m south Surrey.

Hello @confucious Welcome. For new purchases, users are best to contact Tado support, from the chat function on the main Tado web site, to check compatibility with the heating system. A new Tado system is relatively straightforward to install for most competent DIYers. Tado will provide wiring instructions when you start the install. There is also a 'professional' installers App.

If this is a pre-owned purchase fom ebay, that has previously been installed, I suspect that it will throw up some issues that will need help from Tado support to reconfigure.

For the user community to help, can you post details:

    • The products you have purchased from ebay? 'X' or V3+ or earlier? Is it the full starter kit or just the wired thermostat? New or previously installed? Do you know if it the standard Tado product or from an energy provider?
    • Details of your heating system: boiler make/model (combi or system), programmer/timer, thermostat? S-Plan or Y-plan heating/HW with zone valves?
    • Pictures will help, easiest posted from a web browser.

You'll also need this information to get through the Tado chat-bot and for their support team to help you.

  • it is a Tado v3 starter kit with a couple of radiator valves which I can install myself. It is previously used but I have already connected it to the internet, I just need the thermostat installed.

I previously owned one which I bought off ebay but was renting the property and the maintenance people installed it when the old thermostat broke. All I want is for someone to wire the thermostat in and attach it to the wall in place of my existing thermostat.
