Can't fit thermostat on to radiator

Please see photo, you can see the adaptor I have fitted to the radiator.

When I fix the mounting bracket to the adaptor and then offer up the Tado thermostat, the thermostat does not sit into the mounting bracket, it will not push fully home by about 3mm. Is this because the pin is sitting too high, or incorrect adaptor?
