Radiator is heating up when not switched on

I have a tado smart thermostat in a bedroom. This is on a schedule but when my living room heating turns on, it also heats the bedroom radiator. Does anyone know why this is happening? I can’t find anything on tado help pages. Thanks. Neil

  • It seems that the bedroom radiator is on the same central heating loop as your living room. Now when any radiator in the zone calls for heat and triggers the boiler, all radiators are going to get heat flowing to them. If your smart TRV registers the temperature around it is below its target level, it will remain open for incoming heat. The question is - is it actually opening before it should, or is it stuck open?

Shut of the heat in the bedroom TRV and turn up the temp in the living room. Does the bedroom heat up still? If so, unplug it, remove the batteries, wait for a minute, leave it upside down, put new batteris in and try again, repeating the test. If its still heating up when it shouldnt, contact Tado through the app on support. You may have a faulty smart TRV.

  • Thanks for that. I’ll give it a try.
  • Another thought is that the bedroom valve is not seated correctly and locked into the mount or the pin length and plunger are not compatible. Or maybe calibration failed and was ignored.

  • @eezytiger really odd. One of my stats had a calibration fault this morning after a year of use. Redid it and it works now.
