Working up Tado V3

Can anyone help with which wires go where in the Tado, the existing Drayton on has 2 wires connected brown in COM and brown sleeved black in NO. There is a blue sleaved grey wire and an earth wire in the back that are not used in the existing thermostat

    Can you locate the exact model of that stat? Is it just a stat, or a programmer and stat?
  • Hi it’s a programmer and stat - Danfoss TP5001B
  • This is a picture of what I have
  • This looks simple. Kill all the power first.
    1. Take the wire screwed into the point called COM and place it in the COM point on the Tado stat.
    2. Take the wire presently in NO and place it in the NO point in the Tado stat.
    Any other wires you might discover as your remove that backplate, place in P1, p2, p3 on the Tado. That parks then safely. Don't join them!
    3. Scan the new stat in your app and if it asks for the old thermostat give it the right model. Follow the instructions from there. Should work.

    Thanks, says in the instructions it needs a neutral to work, don’t look like the existing stat has one, not sure what the grey wire with blue sleave is though
  • Park the ones which aren't in the list above. Should work. If it doesnt, come back.

    So I’ve discovered today that the TADO can’t be connected where the old stat was as it’s not a programmer which is why it’s not working, it has to be connected to the boiler which I’ve now done, but have a couple of questions
    1. What do I need to do with the old stat wires, do any of them need to be linked together etc. to make it work
    2. When connecting to the boiler in the rt24v connectors above them in the same block is a link joining 2 terminals marked burner off I think, does this need to be removed

    Any help appreciated

    The suggestion that a Tado stat won't work because it's not a programmer is, let me put this quietly, not true. It comes with an app that serves as the programmer. Without it the benefits of the use of Tado products are restrained profoundly.
    If you still want help from here to make this work, would you please:
    * identify the boiler;
    * let us know what central heating and hot water heating plumbing is in place?
    * a y plan?
    * a c plan?
    * any underfloor heating?
    * how many wired thermostats?
    * what specific motorised valves you have and where, controlling what?
    * Did you wire this all yourself and/ or are you conformable investigating all this without a professional to hand?
    * Do you use the Tado app?
    * What mode was the Smart stat configured for, at Tado's recommendation?
    If you want help we can help.
  • @davidlyall would you mind watching this thread?
  • @Bronco839 , can you confirm what Tado component you were trying to install in place of the Danfoss? From your later posts, it sounds like it was a wireless receiver which would explain Tado's comments

    If you can provide answers to the questions @policywonk asked, that will help the community to help you. I'm pretty sure we can find you a solution
