Wireless Receiver Wiring Sanity Check
Hi there!
I'm self-installing a V3 Wireless Receiver in place of a British Gas UP1L Programmer panel. I've gotten to the point where I'm ready to wire the Tado Receiver, after labelling all the existing wires according to the instructions in the App install guide.
My spidey sensors are tingling because Terminal 1 from the UP1L has both earth wires (1 from the power in, one from the boiler side) bound together and connected to it. According to my app guide, Terminal 1 is labelled 'HW NC'. Shouldn't the Earth wires go elsewhere?
Is this all fine? I am hesitant to go ahead without a sanity check :)
(The UP1L Dip switch 5 is in the 'up' position)

To clarify, according to the App install guide, having the UP1L Dip switch 5 in the up position means 'fully pumped'. The UP1L controller controls HW and CH independently.

I think the "earth" wires are being used as conductors (they should be sleeved brown) because your earth terminal has nothing connected to it . . .

Well, I went ahead and connected it up to see what would happen(!). It all worked for a while, but I noticed that the radiators were warm when only the hot water was on. By the time I got around to looking at it, now the hot water button in the app has disappeared, and I get an error when I try to access the hot water settings:
