E1 error

Have removed the child lock on a Tado smart rv and when correctly reinstalled I get permanent E1.

Comments

  • ok found that I should have installed the mounting bracket before attaching the valve head, so no more E1. But now The valve is stuck at one temp value with symbols I don't understand. They are a c and a c reversed that alternate either side of the temp. It looks as though the child lock is still on.

    Grrrrrr

  • Has anyone else found that some supporters are less than useful. I have a problem where the instruction tells me to uninstall the valve, take the batteries out for a time then re-install the valve, But that doesn't work, I contact support and they ask have i tried the app. Doh

  • Would you get some pliars and check the pin on the TRV base pin? Does it move up and down adequately. This is the most common reason for calibration failure. If its stuck, get some silicone spray (not WD40- it can dissolve the TRV digger), spray, leave for two hours, jiggle about slowly until it releases. Careful - dont try and pull the pin right out.

Then remove the batteries on the head for 1 whole min. Refit. Leave upside down for a min. Then turn it the right side up. If it says "hi", refit, and try again. Not ever seen the a c thing… Sorry.

Yes, like humans really. Sometimes they arent as alert as we might like. And on the other end of the curve we encounter individuals who really try.

@Catcher Hello. First, I'd start with the good suggestions from @policywonk .

Second, when you re-insert the batteries, does the TRV black centre pin retract (or is already fully retracted).

Third, Can you try fitting the TRV on a different radiator, that has a known working TRV, to see if problem still occurs or disappears?

    HTH.
