Hallway with wired thermostat and TRV thermostat

I have a hallway which has a wired thermostat in that connects to a wireless receiver which calls for hot water or heating from our system boiler.

The hallway also has a radiator which I’ve added a smart TRV too. The other radiators downstairs which are connected to the system all have smart TRVS too. Apart from the towel rail in the bathroom which I think is what they call a pass through.

Anyway. Now not sure whether I need to turn the radiator on from the app or the thermostat or both? And if just the radiator the the thermostat is sort of redundant now right?

Thanks in advance

    @valleyman Hello. The simple answer is that one device in the room (TRV, wireless temperature sensor, or wired thermostat) is the measuring device. Thermostats/sensors should be the default and accurate to +/- 0.1 deg C. TRVs are accurate to +/- 0.5 deg C.

    You can adjust the temperature setting from the device or the app. Personally, I use the app as the easiest. Faffing around with the device usually leaves the room settings in an unexpected state.

  • Thanks @wateroakley - you're a fine help!

    At the moment I've put the thermostat on a group / room named Downstairs and the radiator on Hallway. Should I put them on the same room together rather than as two different rooms? In fact I've also put each room TRV on its own, is that right?

    My thought is that whilst I used to use the downstairs thermostat to control all of downstairs, I can now just programme each room on it's own for the times I need it?

    @valleyman You’re welcome.
    That’s right … Each physical room with a Tado device would be set up as a ‘room’ in the app. The room can be a ‘zone’, configured in the app to your ‘zone controller’. Then each room can have its own schedule/temperature AND call the boiler for heat. If you have a larger home and reach the limit of 10 zones, the room can be set as ‘independent’. HTH.
