Tado doesn't work with new EE router
Hi,
Just got an EE smart hub pro router, which has 4 x 2.5gbps ethernet LAN ports on the back.
My tado now only shows the power light as being 'on' and the cloud and router LED are off.
From what I've read, the Tado bridge isn't compatible with these newer ports, and I need to get an adapter/splitter. Can anyone advise which splitter/adapter I actually need?
I already tried ordering a new inernet bridge with a new ethernet cable and power source, which ruled out that being the problem. It works in my old router fine but not the new one.
Thanks

UPDATE: I ordered a TP-Link LS1005G 5 port switch and this fixed it.
I did order a VBESTLIFE 2 port switch first and this didn't work, so avoid that one if you have the same issue.0

Bioth BT and EE latest broadband hubs seem to have this problem.
Best to first contact EE and explain that you need help to get the router to talk to your internet bridge using 10mb/sec half duplex protocol. It will need a geek at their end to engage you. Dont accept generalisations such as "it should work, we've never had complaints on this device ever" as an answer. They should offer a service, one in which they may send a tech to your property to verify the router is working correctly. Someone should have the capacity to remotely log into that router and force the port to handle that setting.
If that fails, consider buying an 8 port Ethernet managed switch, with a couple of short ethernet cables. Plug that switch into the router. Then plug the Tado internet bridge into the switch. It should work within 5 mins.
If it doesnt, do the following. Find some way to plug a laptop directly into the managed switch.
- Unplug the switch from the router.
- Using the supplier's instructions, log into the managed switch It will display the devices plugged in, identifying them port by port.
- On one of those you will see a device operating at 10Mb/sec. Select that row and change the setting from Auto, to 10Mb/sec, HALF DUPLEX.
- File the changes. Wait for 5 mins. It should work

@Jakeyb Our rellie uses a cheap TP/Link Wi-Fi extender with an Ethernet port. They plug the internet dongle into the Ethernet port and use the Tado usb power block. Alternatively a cheap Ethernet switch will probably also work.0

Also, check if there's a firmware update for the router. Even if the chance of it fixing the problem is slim, it's always worth checking.

Hi I have just had my kit installed and I noticed I plugged it into the wan port of my EE router which failed on the bridge so I moved the bridge to a normal port not the wan and it's working 100%1

@Jakeyb Glad to hear you’ve got a working resolution to the problem.
