Replacing HIVE with Tado.

Gas engineer insisted on installing Hive with my Vito050 as apparently it wasn't compatible with my existing Tado.

Not only I've lost my OT modulation, but also Hive TRVs failing to demand heating from my Vito050 (just main thermostat can switch it on/off). Hive is literally useless.

I've decided to go back to my old Tado setup and add Tado TRVs instead.

My question is:

Can I wire my good, old Wired Tado Thermostat V3+ in place of existing Hive Wireless Receiver or do I need a new wireless receiver and new thermostat?

  • Hi. This link - https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1142846/Viessmann-Vitodens-050-W.html?page=65#manual
    - identifies the installation instructions. Pages 63 to 70 give the wiring, indicating that the system uses a 24 volt interface for temperature switching and also controlling external time switching.

It should work, but please make sure Tado give you the instructions to wire it. If they don't, come back.
