What is the wiring to connect a wired thermostat to a relay
I wish to connect a wired thermostat to a Salus relay. It should be pretty straightforward, but can someone confirm which terminals to use for the mains input and the relay output?

For anyone else looking for this, here is the wiring for a Tado Wired Thermostat linked to a
Salus RM-16A relay unit. In this instance the device the unit connects to is an electric wall heater
The Tado Wired Thermostat will screw onto a standard UK electrical backplate; the backplate box needs to be deep enough to hold the Salus RM-16A relay unit.
The Salus wiring connections are as follows:
Mains live wire to Salus L
Mains neutral wire to Salus N
Salus L to Salus COM (effectively a bridge)
Salus N to device Neutral wire
Salus NO to Device Live wire
Salus Volume Free Input COM to Tado Com
Salus Volume Free Input NO to Tado NO

@DaveScott Hello Dave. For users to help, best to describe the devices are you attempting to connect? If you have an existing installation, photos of the wiring can be posted.
Salus provide device wiring diagrams on their web site:
Wiring the Tado wireless receiver or wired thermostat to e.g. the Salus RM-16A relay looks straightforward for a competent sparky. There appear to be two choices - using switched live (SL) or volt-free (COM & NO)?
If in doubt, best to consult a professional.0 -
Hi Dave, thanks for your post. I was just looking for a way to control ufh pump through additional relay:)
How does it work for you?0 -
It works very well. The Tado app recognises a new thermostat, and then it can be controlled as another room. If you turn up the thermostat in the new room, there is just a slight delay before the power switches on to the heater.
