Outdoor toilet radiator out of range of smart thermostat
Hi everyone
I’ve just added a load of smart radiator valves to my existing tado system. All rooms have worked fine bar the outside toilet where it seems to be out of range of the smart thermostat bridge. There is a very thick fireplace which I think is the problem. I’ve already put a cat5 socket in the outside toilet. Could I add another smart thermostat and bridge onto existing system and then add the smart radiator valve onto this. I need frost protection in the outside toilet as boiler and jet wash etc in there. Cheers for any help.

Are you using Tado X or legacy devices? With Tado X an additional Tado X bridge should do the job (provided you have WiFi reception there) - failing that an alternative Thread border router.0

Tado x I believe. Only been in 18 months tops. How do I check. WiFi is sketchy in there that’s why I have cat 5 socket. I could plug the bridge straight in there couldn’t i0

It’s a legacy thermostat and valves0

I think I’ve sorted a work around. Plug a mesh wi-if extender into cat5 socket in toilet and hopefully the smart radiator valve will connect with thermostat bridge in the house now WiFi in outside toilet. Thoughts anyone????0

@Dandeep , tado doesn't use WiFi so the extender won't help
Can you reposition the bridge so that all devices get signal?0 -
Hello @Dandeep
Just so you and the other community members are on the same page, you do not have tado° X. You have V3+.
I think re-positioning the bridge at Davidlyall suggested is a good first step. This may resolve the issue easily. However, since I can see in our backend that all your devices are well connected, I give this a 50/50 chance of working.
Looking at the backend, I see you have a lot of devices connected to 'Downstairs'. The issue might also be linked to how you've set up your Zones/ Zones controllers. If that's the case, best would be contacting support. You can do so by clickling on the chatbox at the bottom right side of your screen.0 -
It’s definitely not down to zones. If I move the smart valve literally 1ft outside the toilet it connects. It’s just because the radiator is behind a very thick chimney breast. Will try and move bridge to other side of one wall tonight and see if that helps. Thanks for all the help. Keep
