Hot water tank thermostat
Is it possible to connect a temperature sensor/thermostat on a hot water storage tank to tado? I have a gravity fed hot water system, with a hot water storage tank. When the central heating is switched off, but hot water is on, the boiler is switched on & off by the boiler thermostat. As the hot water is heated by convection, some of the radiators will also warm by convection, and this will often cause the boiler to fire even when the hot water storage tank is full of hot water(I also have solar thermal panels feeding a secondary coil in the hot water storage tank). A means of controlling the on/off of the hot water function on tado via a hot water tank temperature sensor would solve this problem.

Hi Alun, yes it is possible. That is how ours is wired.0

I wired a hw tank stat to my Tado which has connections for hw stat. I had an old boiler which only had power on/ off for control. 2 weeks ago we got a new condensing boiler and the heating engineer insisted on adding a motorized valve to the feeder for the hot water tank. The system is a lot more complicated now and I've still to figure out how they wired it. But it still will come on when hot water is required and turn off if the hot water is hot but no radiators are required.0

You'll need Tado Control with hot water support - it's a special model with extra inputs for HW sensor.
Then you attach standard hw temperature sensor on tank, put its wires to Tado Control, and Controll will switch boiler off when temperature reached.0
