Settings Loss

Hi, All. New to the forum and to Tado. Having some issues with my Smart Thermostat. I recently had a power cut and the unit lost all its settings. The plumber put it right. On Saturday, the Mrs accidentally unplugged the internet bridge and the same thing happened. Even the plumber couldn’t put it right this time, and I contacted Tado, who reconfigured the unit remotely, via its Chat thingy. Does the unit never retain its settings? Does it need to be re-set after every power loss? Ridiculous, and a serious design flaw. I have an electrician due in a few weeks, who will want to power down, and there we go again…Thank you, all.

Hi @StuD, the thermostat 'should' retain its settings once power is restored - mine has never lost its settings from a power cut, or being unplugged etc, so seems there is something odd going on with yours

@pcone is correct. You shouldn't lose any settings as a result of a power cut

Can you elaborate on what you're losing when this happens? Heating/HW schedules or something else?

All my tado° kit reconnects itself automatically after a power cut. There should be no effect on the schedule whatsoever as that’s held on tado°’s servers . . .
  • Hi, guys. Thanks for this. After the “power out”, the stat seems to revert to factory settings and the app is useless from then on. I have to control heat and water by switching the boiler on/off! Noting I do in the app then works. The chat line told me that the unit does not retain settings but your comments suggest they could be wrong…?

Which model of thermostat do you have, wired or wireless temperature sensor . . .
  • Hi, Hug. It’s the wireless V3+. The schedules on the app remain stable, but there is no connection between app and stat after a power-down. I worry about a power cut when away, and my heating booming for a fortnight (costing millions!). Sort of defeats the object of having the app etc, because, as it’s stands, I will probably have to switch off my boiler before going away, coming home to a cold house and no hot water. Which is really why I bought the thing in the first place. Sigh. Nothing is ever easy, is it…?
