Did a firmware update ruin the reliability of thermostat 'buttons' ?

Hi,

Since about a week now, the thermostat's up/down buttons for the temperature, have become erratic. What happens is:

  • I press the round physical button. The thermostat is slow to respond but the UI lights up.
  • I press the Up button for higher temperature. It does nothing.
  • I press the Up button again.
  • After a brief delay, the temperature goes up 8 degrees and the down button no longer responds.
  • I switch to my phone to correct the temperature setting.

The same happens the other way: If I come to turn the heating down, and press the down button, it goes nuts too and goes all the way to 5° C while only intending to bring it down to 18° C.

This problem is new to me (but still there) and wonder if Taco broke the firmware.

No issues using the iOS app.

White square thermostat, serial number begins with RU

Firmware version 97.1

Connection: Connected

Battery: Good

Removing comment adding hardware info that's posted as an answer.

(Should change the "Leave a Comment" heading to "Add an Answer")

  • This content has been removed.
  • The comment box heading says "Leave a comment" but then the submitted text is added to the question as an "answer". This adds noise to the thread, so I moved my extra info to the original post.

I’m fitting a tado system v3+ to my boiler and I’m having problems with the CH not coming on when asked to, but works on test, just wondering if me using iOS 18.01 may cause a problem has anyone else noticed this problem

Hi @Tricky_48 Welcome. Our home automation iPad is on iOS 18.0 and no issues. The next available update is 18.0.1, which appears to be the latest security release. Not sure where 18.01 fits?

The home iPad will probably update overnight, so may be able to answer more after Saturday?

'Test' on a wireless receiver is simply a 'local' test function on the box. It takes a minute or two (or sometimes longer) for an App request for CH 'ON/OFF' to percolate through to a wireless receiver.

A new install will do it's own thing, check and update the firmware on the devices. Patience can be a virtue. Sometimes it may be necessary to contact Tado support for help. You can contact Tado support from the chat box on the main Tado website.

    HTH.
