Meter readings

Around 18 months ago we had our electricity meter changed to a smart meter. The TADO problems that followed were :

1, it wasn’t possible to enter the meter readings for the new meter so I had to calculate how many kWh we had used that day and add it to the original meter reading.

2. This manipulation worked well until the meter reading exceeded 99999 and the TADO site would not accept any reading over that number not would it accept the actual meter reading of the new smart meter.

any suggestions on how to enter meter readings for newly installed meters?

thanks

Isn't it easier to have the supplier's app as a monitoring tool?

All automated, no manual data entry, live energy consumption (for some suppliers such as Octopus + Home Mini).

@GrayDav4276 Indeed, their API is robust and user-friendly. Third-party applications enhance data analysis capabilities and facilitate cost optimization. iOS users can leverage the Shortcuts app to create custom automations, such as setting up cost notifications and other useful features.

@GrayDav4276 We don't need Tado or Octopus. We use a spreadsheet with energy usage data from 2010. We can analyse the heating and HW energy data to suit our own needs.

From October 2018 … the monthly kWh results for a four-bed detached 1960's home … with manual intervention (from November 2021), and smart controls (from Februrary 2022) are graphed below.

Yes, the Octopus app graphing is quite good and easy to use for consumers.
