Tado new user advise

Hello
I am new to tado if someone can help ky understanding would really help.

So I currently have 1 heating zone in the house and have installed the wireless tado starter kit.

In addition I now have 8 smart radiator valves covering all rooms.

All my radiators have the reciever as the zone controller.

I tend to manually use tado on manual mode rather than schedule.

So currently if I change bedroom A temp to say 20 degress then that calls for heat and switches that room only....I assume it warms it to that tempreture and not what the main thermostat says?

But I don't understand what the actual thermostat box does now? Is that jst reading tempreture of the room it sits in and that's it?

There is no main thermostat with Tado. Your wireless temperature sensor can be used as a measuring device for a room, and usually gives a more accurate temperature reading than the Tado trvs. You won’t be able to control any temperature on it other than that of the room it’s been put in on the app.

Thank you for the response. Apologies if am misundertsanding.

what's confusing me more is the thermostat shows up as a wireless tempreture sensor on the app.

But when I go on the app this is set as Home if I change tempreture on it it switches the boiler and starts warming up 2 radiator up that have no trv at all.
Also as mentioned all radiators have "Reciever" as zone controller, plus this wireless sensor doesn't show up as a option.

Is this correct? Or should that sensor not be able to call for heat?
Or is my setup wrong and I need to link that wireless sensor to something?
  • Normally the wireless temperature sensor would be in a room which also has a TRV and the latter would be controlled by it (it is a better measuring device than the TRV’s themselves.) It could also be used in a room which had a radiator without TRVs but bear in mind that that radiator (assuming its valves were open would heat when any of the measuring devices called for heat.) If you have a hot water cylinder (eg in a Y plan system) the wireless temperature sensor is also used to control the hot water.
  • Everything sounds like it’s working correctly. A zone controller is a device linked directly to the boiler or zone valve. The wireless temp sensor will only control the room it’s linked to. Any radiators in your house without trvs fitted will heat up when the boiler is on as there is nothing to stop the flow of water.
