Batteries keep needing to be changed

I keep getting a message that the batteries need to be changed, often as much as every two weeks on one of my radiators. Is it likely that the thermostat is faulty?

    Battery life is going to be dependent on the number of times the valve operates unless this one valve is causing a higher than normal load. Is the valve body spindle free to move my hand?
