TRVs - Battery life

Options

Hi there

I recently installed 10 TRVs around the house. Given it hasnt been cold, they havent really been used.

However, half of them now need batteries replacing (been there for about 3 months).

Is that normal? I cannot believe how quickly they have been depleted.

Thanks

Mine have just started needing to be replaced after a year and a half. Do you have trouble with the signal from the trvs to the bridge dropping our? Otherwise I’d suggest they’re faulty.

No problems with the signal dropping to the bridge.

Weird, feels odd that like 5 are faulty though?

Have you tested the batteries to see if they really do need changing?

When I used the batteries supplied by Tado for my wireless temp sensor they lasted about three months, so it could be a dodgy batch.

From 22 TRVs in two households ... most are 9 to 18 months with the original batteries and then replaced with Panasonic 1900mAH eneloop rechargeable batteries. One TRV is faulty, it consistently draws 10mA and eats the rechargeable batteries every 7 days. Three wireless thermostats with original batteries are 20 months, 16 months and 12 months.
