Wiring New Tado Receiver - Changing from BG Hive single channel.

Hi, I'm changing from a Hive single channel to a Tado wireless smart thermostat starter kit V3+. I've used the app, labelled everything and wired it up but there are no details about the earth wire. If I put the earth wires in the terminal with the downward arrow (between HWNO and P1), the fuse board blows when turning on the boiler. If I leave the earth wires loose the boiler fires up but this doesn't seem safe or right! Can anyone help?
