UK Opentherm and wireless V3 kit

Options

Hi,

Ive started fitting the starter kit V3 along with wireless smart radiator TRVs.

I have one customer who is asking why an opentherm connection has not been used when he has so say 'Smart' controls.

His boiler is no longer modulating with weather compensation.

Am I missing something in the setup??

Thanks

You’ll want the EU version (available in U.K.) if you want to modulate a Combi using digital connection.

WC is another matter and you could stick with relay and just add the outdoor sensor to appropriate boilers.

    Thanks Montage,

so using just relay I can get the boiler to mudulate with an outdoor senor.

Presumably if I get the eu version of the tado, the modulation would in some part be linked to weather as reported via the server for the local area?

Where supported, I can’t think of many boilers that can’t handle the outdoor sensor to do WC with relay control. Might be the odd obscure one, of course, that doesn’t.

For Tado, it’s certainly what they say. Internet-based weather compensation is probably much better than none. It should work equally well for digital as well as relay. Given the algorithms behind Tado are a commercial secret, we can’t say quite how they use the data.
