Boiler is not not switching on

Hi all

My set is:
Boiler Ideal Vogue Max Gen 2.
Tado Wireless Extension Kit (EU version) for opentherm.
4 rad thermostats.

I installed the kit as per instruction and all seems to showing correct settings. All communications seems to be right.

But... my CH is not coming on at all. HW is fine but the CH will not move no matter which settings I got on app.

Just to clarify that communication with app seems to be fine as I can regukate HW temp on boiler.

I thought it would be wrong connection but I have wired it to Digital and Opentherm on boiler which meant to be low voltage.

The only question I wonder: when I had on/off switch then opentherm was looped with purple wire. I had to remove it to set opentherm cable.
Does it mean I need to loop the regular switch connections?

Please help as otherwise I will need to swap back to old system.

  • Quick update

I decided to search all locations for answer and came across Ideal manual and within few points for troubleshooting it was suggested:
    - once HW works but CH not, please check batteries of the termostat switch.

Duh... switch is on/off so it needs to be kept in loop to make boiler on and tado does the rest thru opentherm.

I do realize it is very silly answer to it but I thought I would share how I have gained a bit more confidence on how to make my tado setup work the magic I require.

Have a lovely and warm day.
  • Glad you got it sorted. Some boilers need the switched live looped when using OT/bus, some not.

The Ideal seems to arrive new with both SL and OT looped. Then you just wire the required one and leave the remaining loop in place to create demand.
