Radiators Hot Despite No Heat Demand from Smart TRVs?
Hi Everyone,
Over the last few months we've been experiencing problems where radiators are hot (not warm i.e valves are fully open) despite there being no heat being demanded from the smart TRVs - the app confirms this.
Most of the time the radiators are not scheduled to be on at all, although generally this has occurred during periods where other radiators are scheduled to be on (i.e. the boiler is already on).
We've had the problem with different radiators / TRVs and rooms and have tried resetting TRVs and swapping them around which hasn't solved the problem. Early start is also off.
Any thoughts on what the problem might be - seems like perhaps a software type issue.
TIA

Stuck TRV Bodies? I had this in the summer when turning only the Bathroom TRV on would cause the TRV in another room to come on. Swapping those exact TRVs between the 2 rooms didn't fix it.
On those rooms with the issue, can you manually depress the TRV body pin? On mine, I couldn't even with tools taking the pressure off my hands/fingers. Couldn't even (gently) hammer it down!
Only solution was a new TRV body.

PS: All my TRVs are tado ones.

Yes I'm still using the non-smart terminology in the sense of TRV "head" and "body"

Thanks Both, I think that could be it. The pins on one of them is definitely rock solid. The other ones seem ok (well they still move) - I'll keep an eye on them and see what happens.
Similarly, where I've swapped around smart heads and its hasn't worked, I'd put a manual head back on and was able to shut the radiator off - I guess you're able to exert more force with a manual head than the smart ones can muster.
