Hot water does not come on when requested
Hi,
I have a gravity fed system with no zone valves and it's not Y plan. There's just a pump for the radiators, not for the hot water. No electronic valves to control flow between hot water and radiators etc. Very simple, very old. It's a system boiler -- Mexico Super CF465. There is no thermostat on the hot water cylinder either.
I've installed tado and the central heating works fine. I can also press the test buttons on both heating and hot water and they fire up the boiler immediately.
But when I switch the hot water on in the app, nothing happens. It used to work fine with my old wired controller - I'd turn on hot water and it'd fire up straight away. Any idea why that's not the case with Tado?
Does Tado need something to call for heat to make it work? Would installing a hot water cylinder thermostat help with that?
Thank you - the children are not enjoying the cold baths I've inflicted on them!

Blimey, it’s nearly 35 years since I looked at a gravity HW system and pumped CH. This sounds like the wireless controller could be set as a combi boiler configuration. Fault finding: Tado should call for HW, the wireless controller relay should to turn on, visible on the LED, power on HW NO.
Otherwise you’ve got a wiring issue. You can post pictures of the ‘before and after’ wiring for more help.
edit: There should be a HW cylinder stat in the existing wiring or maybe the system has a thermostatic wax valve on the HW tank exit?
