Nest thermostat and smart Tado radiators

I just bought the tado smart radiator thermostat (4 + bridge) to have more control over the temperature in our bedrooms. I understand that the radiators only heat when the Nest thermostat (connected to the boiler) is programmed to heat. I’m fine with that!

The problem I’m having is that the smart radiators are not stopping when they reach the set heat. They continue to heat whilst ever the boiler is on. Can someone help me with this?

  • Possible explanations for the radiators continuing to heat.

    1) The Tado heads have not calibrated properly, so they are unaware of the valves open and close positions.

    2) The TRV valve pin has become stiff due to calcification and the Tado head does not have sufficient force to fully close the valve.

    3) The TRV valve seat is worn and/or calcified so the valve is no longer able to close fully.

    4) The Tado heads are not communicating with the bridge.

You can check the valve pins by using a coin to press them down. They should move freely and spring back up. Use the old manual TRV heads to check that the valves do close fully.
