TRV says temp is lower than roomstat - roomstat is measuring device for room
can anyone explain this?
smart TRV on the rad, smart thermostat on the wall (the roomstat is the measuring device for the room)
room temp set to 21, roomstat thinks the temp is 21.5, TRV thinks it's 20 (and suggests it's calling for heat).
which is one right and why is the TRV saying it's calling for heat when it's not the measuring device?
the tado app shows 1 tile for living room, and displays 21.9 degrees (with the heat set to 21).

Is the temp sensor paired with the TRV or are they independent? If the former, the TRV should open/close based on the sensor not the TRV.
As you likely know already, TRV temps aren’t accurate for room temp. They’re often higher (next to rad) but can be lower too (my dumb TRV next to rad never shuts off unless set really low as under a window - room temp is fine though).
As to which is accurate, probably the sensor. You can confirm with a room thermometer.0 -
paired in what way? both the room stat and the TRV is in the same room within the tado app, and the roomstat is set as the measuring device for that room.
not sure if that means they are paired or not?
the query was more about whether the TRV was actually calling for heat or not, the roomstat wasn't but the TRV was saying it was (in homekit anyway), not sure if there is way to tell within the tado app

I would go with what the Tado app is telling you, rather than HomeKit. For a start I don’t think the home app understands things like which device is the measuring device, that’s something specific to Tado. The set measuring device will be the one that calls for heat if they’re in the same room, which they appear to be.0

within the tado app itself, which i rarely use other than to set up devices, if there an obvious indicator if something is calling for heat? (other than the current temp being lower than the desired heat).

If you pay the subscription you can see which rooms are calling for heat and what percentage in care and protect.0

Wow, sticking basic functions like what device is calling for heat being a paywall!0

The temperature delta will likely be due to the height above floor. Heat rises. The room stat will be in control, not the TRV. I’d suspect this is HomeKit reporting what it hears, but not realising which Tado device is actually in control of your heating.

there doesn't seen to be way to not present a particular device to homekit, it's all or nothing it seems.

on a side note, the orientation setting within the app doesn't seem to have any impact on the TRV.
i have 1 (out of 3) in horizontal orientation, so i changed the orientation setting in the app from vertical to horizontal and it did nothing at all, the TRV display is still in vertical mode

@johnnyp78 according to the app all 3 rads are calling for heat, even though 2 have reached desired temp?
temps were set to 16 (overnight temp) until 7am when the required temp is 21.

i have homekit automations to handle the heat changes, but yes at 10pm every night all the rads are turned down to 16 degrees for overnight.
at 7am it's then changed back to 21 degrees for the day.
the bedroom only stays at 21 for a short while (until we're up) then gets set back down to 18 for the rest of the day.
the living room and office are at 21 for the day/evening until 10pm
the house is a 1930s sold brick (internal and external) wall and is quite difficult to keep at the desired temps, so an open door from the living room into the hall (which is quite a cold zone) can cause quite a dramatic heat drop very quickly (not helped by the very low temps we've had here in the past week).
obviously we are also trying to be as "eco" as possible due to the continually rising energy costs (going up again Jan 2023), but we really need to get to the desired temps in the rooms as quickly as possible (both working from home).
