Please help - away mode failed

Today we were out all day, and everything was set to away (frost protection only). The app shows that no heating was on all day in the energy graphs, despite showing that the heating increased in all rooms.

However, in real life the heating was on, and it cost over £10! I have the Loop app and it shows consistent gas use all day long. The house is really hot. How can this have gone so wrong?

We were both far from the house, we checked away mode was on, and the app confirms it was on, and yet still the heating was on all day.

We bought Tado to save money, but so far it is costing us.much more! Any help would be much appreciated, please.

  • Just to add, this wasn't caused by any preheat issue, as we don't have premium. We manually set it to Away, and then manually changed to home when we got in.
  • Check if the wireless receiver / wired thermostat has lost connection with the bridge. You might need to re-pair it.

    If you have an S-type or Y-type plan (with zone valves) and Tado was off, the first suspect for unexpected heating would be to check if the zone valve (or actuator) is stuck 'open'.
