Zone controller
Hi!
Struggling with a newly installed system, hoping you can help.
I have 2 zones in my combi CH system: a wireless receiver connected to 1x 2-port valve, and a wired thermostat connected to the other 2-port valve.
- The wireless temperature sensor/ reciever act as a zone controller for downstairs UFH.
- The wired thermostat acts as a zone controller for upstairs radiators with smart TRVs.
Currently, when any of the rooms/TRVs call for heat as per a schedule, the wired thermostat doesn't forward that heat demand to the boiler unless it also is scheduled to heat! Similarly, if the thermostat calls for heat as per the schedule, the TRVs dont open unless they are on-schedule to heat.
I want the wired thermostat to act only as a receiver/zone controller for my smart TRVs, without having its own schedule, its in a landing without any rads.
Seems pointless to have room TRVs if they are limited by the zone controller schedule...hopefully i just havent understood the correct way of configuring it.
Can you help?
Thanks in advance

...Is this a problem that only I have, or is the solution so obvious i'm missing it?
I expected the zone controller to forward the heating request from a smart TRV regardless of the zone controller schedule..?

I have the same problem. The help pages do not offer a solution. At one stage during the initial setup there was an opportunity to set the zone controller for the TRVs but I cannot find a way back to that. The support pages suggest going to the room name and selecting ‘Zone Controller’ under ‘Heating Zone’ but there is no ‘Heating Zone’. Maybe someone from tado will spot this thread and respond.0

This might help https://support.tado.com/en/articles/4836146-my-smart-thermostat-is-not-shown-as-a-zone-controller-what-can-i-do
@dondaps try putting the wired thermostat in the same room as the trvs on the app but make sure that they are set as measuring device. It should still be set as zone controller.0
