Fitting wired thermostat to a cold wall
Hi, I look after a church hall. We had a Honeywell T4 thermostat, but it was a pain having to go in and reprogram it every time we had a new booking, or a regular user wanted to cancel one week, etc. So I got a Tado and installed it. But the wall the old thermostat was on is pretty cold at this time of year, and the Tado reckons the temperature is about 4 degrees colder than it really is. I've checked with a max/min thermometer and sure enough, about 30 cm in front of the Tado it's 20 degrees, but hold the max/min thermometer on the wall and it dropped to 16.5. It thought it was only 14 degrees this morning so I was worried, because we have a toddler group in. I went to check, but they were all happy and it was pretty much shirt-sleeve temperature in the room.
Should I try putting some insulation behind the mounting plate? Or turn it down, so it thinks it's only got to heat up to 16, instead of 20?
I know in an ideal world I'd get the bloody walls insulated, but getting it through the church hierarchy is a nightmare, not to mention the expense.

You can set a suitable temperature offset in the app [room name]/temperature offset.

I’d get a wireless temp sensor and put in on a stand away from the wall. Make that the measuring device instead.1

@PaperScout With nearly one year of Tado use, in two homes, I’d start with the advice from Johnny.
