Replacing ESI ES3247 (another 3 zone replacement post!)
Hi all,
I've had a search through the forum regarding replacing an existing 3 zone system (CH1, CH2, HW) with Tado - and I've chatted with Tado (with not much help!) - but can't find anyone else asking the same question.
I plan on using a Wireless Smart Thermostat with Hot Water control, replacing an ESI ES3247 connected to a Glow Worm Home 12R system boiler with hot water cylinder.
I plan on using smart TRV's on all rads because my thought is to parallel the feeds to/from the 2 current CH Valves so they work in unison - with the TRV's controlling the call for heat (or the smart thermostat controlling the call for HW)
My system has a radiator bypass built in already.
Can anyone see any flaw in my plan - or a better way of achieving this?
Many thanks

That isn’t going to work unfortunately unless you can force your heating valves to stay open. Otherwise you’ll need to wire the wireless receiver to one valve and hot water and one wired thermostat to the other zone valve.0

Thanks Johnny - but surely if I just parallel the CH NO from the wireless receiver into both valves, then when the TRV's call for heat this will open both valves. I then take one of the switched outputs from one of the vales to the boiler's switched input then this will work??
But i've just spotted something - I was hoping to use e-bus to my boiler.. But the wireless smart thermostat (with HW control) doesn't do this.. Bah!!!

No, I’m afraid if you want hot water cylinder control you can’t use a modulating connection, on Tado at least. You could do if you replumbed for x plan/ pdhw but this is quite an undertaking.
As for paralleling the zone valves, you could try it, or put a line in to keep them permanently switched open.0
