What exactly do the wireless temperature sensors do?

Forgive me if this has been asked (probably hundreds) of times before. I did look.

I recently installed a Tado system, replacing all radiator valves with Tado TRV's, two wired thermostats (one upstairs, one downstairs) with Tado models and installing wireless temperature sensors in all rooms without thermostats. Have I wasted my money?

The only upstairs room I want to heat during the day is my office. This is consistently sitting a couple of degrees below the desired temperature, while all other upstairs rooms are above. I'm guessing my desired tado settings are being overriden by the pre-existing thermostat zones. Is there anything I can do?

On a related note, if the temp sensors don't enable Tado to heat a room effectively, then what is the point of them?

  • If you use more than one temp sensor, its main purpose is giving a more accurate reading in a room with multiple Tado trvs. As they can only call for heat from the boiler for the entire zone they’re installed in, if there’s more than one in the same zone without Tado trvs there’s likely to be a clash.

    I don't think I was clear.

Each room has a Tado wireless temp sensor or Tado wired thermostat. Every radiator has a Tado TRV. TRV's & sensors/thermostats are assigned to the rooms they're in in the Tado app (eg. one sensor & one TRV in 'office' in the example above).
  • If the wireless temp sensors are in a room with a trv, their main purpose is to give a more accurate temperature reading, as well as give you display controls of the heating.
