How to attach TRV to this pls?
Hi
Could someone look at the photo in the link and advise what adaptor I need to fix a tado TRV please? There’s nothing to screw a TRV to at the moment and none of the plastic adapters that came with it seem to be the right size to attach it

Thanks

Are you definitely sure that is a TRV? If it's a TRV you must already have removed the original thermostatic head so you should have some insight into how a replacement would need to attach.
To me it looks more like a manual valve - the shaft on the end looks like it has been turned with grips at some point. If it is a thermostatic valve the shaft would be spring loaded and would press down to close it.0 -
Whether or not it's a trv (and I think it probably isn't) that pin/shaft looks f*cked - you're better off replacing it.

Hi
Thanks for the feedback. I’ve no idea if it’s suitable for a Tado TRV.
I’ve taken some more photos of what I’m dealing with. Any advice greatly appreciated

None of these seem suitable, unfortunately, so you'll likely have to replace one of them, and then I'd probably go for the mangled one, even though it is probably meant as a max-flow adjustment..1

Sorry but you have manual valves at both ends of your radiator, it just looks like the shaft at one end has been mangled by a pair of grips or a spanner slipping.
The valve that has been mangled would have been used to balance the radiators so that they would all heat up at the same time, the valve at the other end with the plastic knob would have been used to turn the radiator on and off.
To use Tafo TRVs you would have to have the valve with the plastic knob replaced with normal TRVs then the Tado TRV would replace the head of the new TRV. You will probably want a plumber to drain down the system and replace one valve on each radiator with a TRV.
Tell the plumber that the TRVs need to use an M30 x 1.5 thread to attach the head then you will not need any adapters to fit the Tado TRV heads.
TRV valves have a spring loaded pin sticking out of the top. Ordinary TRV heads contain a wax pellet that expands when it heats up, this pushes the pin down and shuts the valve thus controlling the temp. The Tado TRVs use an electric motor to push down the spring loaded pin.
