Tado with Alpha eTec33

Has anyone had experience of install a Tado to Alpha eTec 33?

We had our boiler replaced and the installed never installed the Tado back on. He came back out but we couldn't get it to fire the boiler up. The Tado backplate was thrown away so I had to buy a UK standard backplate (I dont think this make any difference but posting anyway).

This is the current set up.

So we assumed it would be wired as black to 1 and grey to 4 for PF1 but nothing.

He advised to get a Hive as he has installed plenty of them on these boilers. I would rather get the Tado working saves me spending money on a Hive.

Tado have sent some instructions (after a month of conversation) but it doesnt seem right to me. I dont want to risk wiring the whole thing wrong and burning the board out.

Tado have said:

In the boiler,

Use N-2-1

Blue to N

Brown to 2

Grey to 1

For the receiver: Relay wire 2

Blue is N

Brown is L

Grey is 4

So from what I can see, they want the live to be part of the switch?

@andyblac Hi mate, I see you replied to something similar to this before (on a Potterton boiler). Not sure if you know if this is correct?

yes, looks good mate. Don't forget to remove the bridge wire between 1 --> 2 on boiler if there is one.
